Jesus comes with good news to share—the Kingdom of God is at hand! In order to carry out his ministry, he calls a crew of disciples to follow him. In doing so, we might have expected Jesus to call temple scribes, educated lawyers, or righteous Jewish leaders from the synagogues. But instead, he calls fishermen. While these two pairs of brothers might seem like unorthodox candidates for the roles of disciples, they possess the most important quality of all: when Jesus calls them, they follow him!

Jesus is calling us too. He isn't concerned about whether we already possess all of the "right tools" for ministry or the perfect set of skills for evangelism. All he's cares about is whether or not we're willing to follow him when he calls. If we leave everything else behind, he knows that he can teach us to "fish for people" too!
