Following His Star

Our celebration of the Christmas Season culminates with the Epiphany of the Lord. As we read the story of Magi who were led by the light of a star, we are called not only to remember their journey, but also to embark on our own expedition to discover the incarnate God. Like those who came seeking this child who had been born a King, we too should pay him homage by presenting our own gifts as tribute.

And having met him, we must expect that our encounter with Jesus will result in a call to follow new and unexpected pathways. The routes before us may at times be fraught with danger, as they require Christ’s witnesses to defy the corrupted powers of this world. But if we have the boldness to trust in the God who has come to live among us, then we can not only testify to the birth of our King, but we can share in his work to prepare for his coming reign!
