With Bated Breath

This Sunday we celebrate the day when Christ’s believers received the Holy Spirit. Jesus once told Philip that God would send the Holy Spirit to serve as an Advocate and teacher to the disciples. On Pentecost, his promise was fulfilled when “Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them.” (Acts 2:3)
The Good News today is that the Holy Spirit wasn’t only reserved for the faithful few who were gathered on that Day of Pentecost. Instead, the Spirit continues to dwell within all who believe in Christ. As we give thanks for this gift of God’s Holy Spirit, we will ask ourselves how we experience the Spirit in our lives and how we are called to share the Spirit in the lives of others.

     Acts 2:1-21
